The Shigang Reservoir was completed in 1966. Its main function is to regulate and store the upstream Tachiachi Hydro Power Plant’s tail water to supply public water in Taichung. After the completion of the Liyutan Reservoir in 1982, it was used in conjunction with the reservoir to meet the growing water demand in Taichung.In response to the allocation of water sources, Shigang Reservoir has conducted siltation measurements every year to understand the actual storage capacity. Shigang Reservoir is located in the Tachiachi Basin. Due to the 921 earthquake, the dam body was uplifted, the slope of the upstream riverbed slowed, and its catchment area Geological loosening and typhoon heavy rains can easily carry a large amount of soil and rock downward. Although the sand is discharged by hydraulic power, some soil and rock are still stagnated in the Shigang Reservoir water storage area. The bureau will continue to handle the dam area dredging project after the 1994 year, in order to clearly understand the Shigang Reservoir The current siltation volume and storage capacity need to be verified and compared with continuous reservoir siltation measurement, and then an effective dredging plan can be put forward in order to achieve the goal of extending the life of the reservoir and sustainable use of water resources.According to the results of this year’s siltation measurement, the actual total capacity of the reservoir in this year calculated by the contour method is 1,484,087 cubic meters, which is an decrease of 127,822 cubic meters compared to the actual total capacity of 1,611,909 cubic meters in 2021; The actual effective capacity of 2022 calculated by the surface method is 1,417,324 cubic meters, which is an decrease of 188,043 cubic meters compared with the actual effective capacity of 1,605,367 cubic meters in 2021.In addition, the estimated dredging volume (S06-1~S16) for this year is 606,259 cubic meters based on the recommended plan in the evaluation report of the dredging section handled this year.
