在鄰近大鵬灣潮口嘉蓮里至南平里海岸段，由105 至106 年第七河川局執行之「屏東海岸防護計畫規劃」報告分析結果，顯示海岸有侵蝕退縮情形，以及當地民眾多次陳情反映，該岸段在防護設施上相較其南北海岸顯有不足，可能造成潛在災害之發生。於前期相關計畫中已另提出上述岸段初步之工程防護構想，但於今(107)年1 月3 日海岸防護規劃審查會議中，審查委員建議該段防護工法應辦理數值模擬研究確認工法可行性，以提出最適合海岸防護方案。

According to the report of 2016-2017“Coastal Protection Project and Planning in Pingdong” dominated by the 7th River Management Office, WRA, the shoreline from Jia-Lian village, inlet of Dapeng Bay to Nan-Ping village represented erosion situation. The local people there also responded that the shore protection in this area is insufficient than seawalls in the adjacent north and south coasts and may cause potential disasters. Early related projects had proposed the protection concepts for this area; however, the review committee (on January 3, 2018) suggested to estimate the suitable construction using numerical method. Therefore, this project is mainly to investigate the seawalls between the shoreline in the southern Dong-Gang to Nan-Ping village (about 4.5 kilometers of total length).
