The Water Resources Agency (WRA) and Central Weather Bureau (CWB) have a long-term collaboration on the Quantitative Precipitation Estimation and Segregation Using Multiple Sensor (QPESUMS). Currently, the QPESUMS Precipitation data was the one kind of the main rainfall source in WRA. In traditional hydrologic analysis uses rainfall gauge data to calculate the catchment rainfall. However, the process of rainfall gauge spatial-temporal distribution was affected by a different kind of the interpolation algorithm, resulting in the rainfall and distribution are not consistent. Therefore this research project tries to use QPESUMS data in the hydrological analysis process. In order to find the better spatial and temporal distribution pattern in the river basin. And to improve the problem of rainfall gauges uneven or insufficient.
This year results reached the "automatic rainfall pre-process of the hydrologic analysis and design ", and "value-added analysis in FEWS_Taiwan" two goals. First of all, to continue the research method from 2014. To find the indispensable rainfall gauges for each basin rainfall gauge network in the Fongshan, Dajia, Choushui, Donggang, Beinan, ShiewGuLuang rivers etc. Secondly, in the application of hydrologic analysis, using the Tanshui river basin as the research case, referring to the existing hydrological analysis method, the study completes the rainfall of the automatic analysis tool, completes the radar rainfall data and thiessen polygon and Isohyetal map method. For the Design storm use rain intensity method and hyetograph method.
Thirdly, in the application of radar and hydrological data analysis, taking the catchment area of the no-rainfall station as an example, through QPESUMS analysis, complete the station analysis and selection query interface prototype; In addition, also complete the STMAS_WRF forecast data analysis with the rain gauge and QPESUMS observation data by the catchments. Finally, FEWS_Taiwan provide the 26 River streamflow information during typhoon events. In order to that engineer can modify the stage-discharge relation after the flood event.
For the FEWS_Taiwan maintenance in order to enhance the security, stability and computing speed. We use Github for the revision control, and update Delft-fews version to 2015.01. In this study, we will continue to strengthen FEWS_Taiwan to meet the world standard and to expand the operational rainfall-runoff model of the WRA. It will be helpful to the future hydrological analysis through QPESUMS data and strengthen the quality of the target.
