嘉義布袋商港至急水溪段海岸，涵蓋好美里自然保護區與雙春濱海遊憩區，有極為珍貴之沙洲、淺灘潮間帶、潟湖與濕地等多元樣貌之海岸。然而近年海岸地形變遷迅速，水利規劃試驗所於1999年著手進行該區沿岸水深地形測量，依研究結果顯示，布袋商港至急水溪段海岸發生嚴重侵蝕現象，沿岸海灘、防風林地急遽消退，嚴重者達百餘公尺，其中龍宮溪至好美里海埔地事業堤間與雙春海岸之防風林線有日漸後退情形。依據本局2007年辦理之「易淹水地區水患治理計畫第一階段實施計畫-好美里海埔地海堤規劃」報告資料顯示，好美里北側浮洲防風林地亦迅速消退中。此外，急水溪口兩側海岸於東北季風期間常有強烈之風吹砂，砂灘飛砂常堆淤於海堤及其陸側道路。爰此，本局茲擬藉由辦理嘉義布袋商港至急水溪段海岸之基本資料蒐集分析、地形水深測量、海岸漂砂底質與飛砂調查分析等工作，建立本段海岸基本資料，並藉由資料分析與現況數值模擬作業，研析海岸砂灘侵蝕問題，繼而據以研擬海岸防護及砂灘復育方案，作為日後海岸防護及砂灘復育規劃設計參考。

This research is a two-year project, and the investigated ambit of this project is the south breakwater of Bu-Dai harbor to Ji-Shui stream, with the length of 11 km, at Chia-Yi County. The purpose of this project in the first year was to investigate the coastal erosion at the ambit of this project by collecting the past site-investigations and performing the works of bathymetric surveys, site sediment investigation. In the second year, the future strategy of coastal protection at this coast would be studied by using the numeral model. In the integration of the past site-investigations, included tide, wave, current, coastal sediment, stream hydrology, coastal protection works, and land subsidence at this coast, were collected and analyzed. The seasonal bathymetric surveys at this coast had been performed in April and October 2012. In the meantime, the previous data of bathymetric surveys were collected. With these data, the seasonal and long-term periodical evolutions of coastal erosion and accretion were analyzed. In addition, the early coastline data were collected to study the long-term periodical changing of coastline. About the seasonal site-investigations of coastal sediment, the investigations of bed load diameter and sediment transportation had been performed in March and September 2012. The distributions of diameter samples were analyzed by the traditional sieve analysis and the optical instruments, such as Lisst 100, Lisst 100X. Furthermore, the Results are provided to explain the characteristic of coastal sediment.
