濁水溪為台灣各大河川中泥砂產量最豐富且治理工作最艱鉅者，基於其重要性，濁水溪下游河道輸砂特性與上游集水區泥砂來源之相關研究，921集集大地震造成濁水溪流域崩塌面積高達11300公頃，因而產生大量鬆散之砂石，河川之輸砂特性變化值得吾人作進一步之探討。
