濁水溪流經南投、嘉義、彰化、雲林等4縣21鄉鎮，沿岸人文社經活動，居台灣關鍵地位；為加強水患防災預警工作，除可保障社會、民眾生命財產安全外，並可提振地區經濟發展。「濁水溪流域逕流測預報系統建置工程」已於91年5月建置完成，該工程於本局除興建水情中心1處外，亦設置10處水位站，並介接中央氣象局578站雨量站，及上游台電所屬水庫、發電廠等資料，結合防汛時期系統預報模式之測預報成果，提供本局防災、避災及應變之參考。

Choshui River, which flows through Nantou, Chiayi, Changhua and Yunlin with 21 towns, has played a key role in the humanities and social activities in Taiwan. This project mainly provides Fourth River Management Office the necessary flood early warning and integrated flood control operation to enhance flood prevention. It not only protects the safety of the public’s lives and property in society, but also boosts the regional economy development.The main purpose of this project is to ensure the robustness of flood prevention information system, to collect disaster information in jurisdiction and to make relevant suggestions for response and improvement. Besides, it needs to analyze the rainfall characteristic of Choshui River basin corresponding to the typhoon paths and to assist with the local illustration meeting for raising people’s awareness of disaster prevention in the jurisdiction.1. Ensure the robustness of flood prevention information systemThis project updates the basic data of the system, checks the data and functions regularly, maintains the hardware regularly, and fixes the abnormality through the newest flood prevention manual to ensure the robustness of flood prevention system. It also reviews the system parameter with the typhoon or flood events in this year in order to make sure that the current system parameter could reflect the current characteristic of basin. In addition, 3 local illustration meetings are organized for flood information promotion, flood prevention and early warning in the jurisdiction with high risk, such as Heshe, Lushan, and Lukang. And 1 training for the flood prevention workers of the office to enhance the response ability of people and the workers during floods.2. Collect disaster information in jurisdictionThis project finishes the early warning operation for the 7 events of typhoon or flood in this year including collecting flood information, early warning information for disaster, and making suggestions for flood response operation. And it also assists in verifying rainfall and flood warning in jurisdiction to confirm the in-situ disaster information.3. Extension of flood predicting model before the typhoons arriveThis project analyzes the rainfall characteristic, including the rainfall duration, total amount, distribution, and intensity, of Choshui River basin corresponding to the typhoon paths of 90 events from 1992 to 2019. And it builds the automatically analyzing module with interfacing the forecasting data of the Central Weather Bureau and the aforementioned analysis result.
