The Quantitative Precipitation Estimation and Segregation Using Multiple Sensors (QPESUMS) developed by Taiwan’s Water Resources Agency (WRA) and Central Weather Bureau (CWB) can utilize meteorological radar, satellites, and rain gauge to observe data, estimate raining patterns, raining intensity, and meteorological products that can be applied to measurement of space distribution. These information will improve as the CWB advances its data analyzing skills and data quality.
Additionally, relevant information has been gradually applied to the process of supervision and disaster prevention carried out by the Water Resources Agency. In order to effectively reinforce the cooperation between the WRA and CWB data and information application, this project shares the Water Resources Agency’s analytical results acquired from meteorological data with the CWB. This aims to help meteorologists better understand the WRA needs while using the data and their data application situation. As a result, this project uses FEWS_Taiwan to connect with data provided by QPESUMS and the weather forecast conducted by the CWB. It plans to further customize the calculation of precipitation at watershed areas and information
acquired from water level forecasts. Ultimately, the project aims to expand the data content on the WRA website. Simultaneously, this project continues to work with the CWB, including using FEWS_Taiwan’s platform to connect their research results such as precipitation forecast skills and forecast results obtained by the satellites. These information includes data obtained from different forecast reports like MODIS’s Evapotranspiration, MODIS’s soil moisture and the CWB ARPS. In addition, CWB will continue to conduct stimulated calculation to provide the WRA more complete information that can be applied to hydrological analysis and disaster prevention works.
