In order to sustainably utilize the hot spring resource, the Water Resource Agency, Ministry of Economic Affair has issued several projects to monitor the hot spring reserve, quality, temperature and water level of hot spring in different area. This project includes (1) collecting and arranging the monitor data of hot spring; (2) writing the seasonal report of hot spring; (3) evaluating and scheme the monitor well for hot spring resource; (4) establishing the hot spring monitor well; (5) analyzing and suggesting the warning value of hot spring monitoring; (6) studying the system maintenance and project management of hot spring monitoring; (7) assisting the assign of hot spring outcrop; (8) assisting administration work.
The location of hot spring monitoring well and hot spring outcrop data were collected and arranged, including: Beitou、Wulai、Jiaoxi and Sichongxi. Taipei city originally installed 31 monitoring wells in Beitou area, only 6 are now working well in monitoring. The Water Resource Agency has installed 4 new monitoring well. Moreover, New Taipei city installed 3 monitoring wells in Wulai area, and the Water Resource Agency has installed 4 new monitoring well.
There are 15 monitoring wells in Jiaoxi area. Compared the data of 2012 and 2011, the wells with increasing water level are 5, and the highest one was reached at 1 m. The rest 8 wells illustrated the decreasing water level, and the lowest one was reached at 3 m. Moreover, the wells with increasing water temperature are 5, and the highest one was reached about 5℃. 3 wells were remained the same at temperature. The rest 5 wells illustrated the decreasing water temperature, and the lowest one was about 5℃. There are 8 monitoring wells in Sichongxi area. Compared the data of 2012 and 2011, the wells with increasing water level are 2, and the highest one was reached at 2 m. The rest 6 wells illustrated the decreasing water level, and the lowest one was reached at 20 m. Moreover, the wells with increasing water temperature are 1, and the highest one was reached about 7℃. 3 wells were remained the same at temperature. The rest 3 wells illustrated the decreasing water temperature, and the lowest one was about 4℃.
This project has collated, corrected and analyzed the above two hot spring area to write the seasonal report of hot spring. It can not only use in the development evaluation of hot spring resource and the warning reaction of water quality, temperature and level, but can provide the information for academic research and the reference of government policy.
Regarding the establishment of monitoring wells at 18 hot spring areas, the administration assistant, economical management and natural disaster prevention of hot spring resource are immediately needed to consider and evaluate. Thus, the project has utilized the impact factor and analysis of weight to divide into three steps for the establishment of monitoring wells, the first priory area is Sichongxi、Jiaoxi、Wulai and Beitou, the second priory area is Guanziling、Jinsan、Kukuan and Taian, the third priory area is Jhihben and Macao、Dongbu and Suao.

Several monitoring items were installed, including long and short normal resistivity (SNR and LNR)、single point resistivity (SPR)、natural potential (SP)、natural gamma ray、temperature(T). The monitoring devices were installed at 100 m under the water level. The monitoring items include water level, temperature, conductivity and pH.
This project has focused on the environmental conservation problems under the development of hot spring resource. The warning system and index were needed to setup. Moreover, the project utilized the concept of risk management to discuss the variation of hot spring water level and temperature. It also executed the Analytic Network Process, ANP to setup four difference warring faces and 19 indexes. The groundwater management index was applied to calculate the variation in mean and standard deviation of monitored hot spring water level and temperature.
