本計畫藉由高雄縣林園鄉海域地形水深的監測成果，探討海岸結構物興築對海岸保護的成效。歷年地形水深資料分析可見此海域地形變遷主要由呈兩種變遷型態，一為沿岸興築的離岸堤群改變極近岸區漂砂行為；其次，沿岸潛沒砂洲的運移。尤其後者對大範圍地形變遷影響更是明顯。中芸港以南東西汕海堤海域，歷年至目前為止地形變遷分析顯示現況的離岸堤配置中，在間距大於40m且無其它砂源補充的部份，堤後淤砂效果較不顯著。
